Glass For Cessna Piston Twins

By Russ Niles, Editor-in-Chief

It's been a long time since Cessna built any gas-burning twins but there are plenty still in service and now they can have panels that rival the latest offerings. Avidyne and Southern Star Avionics, of Mobile, Ala., have added Cessna 320, 335 and 340 piston twins to their approved model list for the Envision Integrated Flight Deck. "Adding functionality and glass displays to these Cessna piston-engine twins not only extends their useful lives, it means that more than 1,500 additional airplanes can now be equipped to operate in today's air traffic environment...," said Rod Higby, Avidyne's vice president of sales and marketing.

Avidyne and Southern Star have collaborated on STCs for Envision on a variety of aircraft including Cirrus SR20 and SR22s with EXP5000 PFDs and an EXP5000 PFD and single EX5000 MFD retrofit, with an S-Tec 65 autopilot on a King Air E90.
