Extra 300

This amendment [Docket No. 99-CE-85-AD; Amendment 39-12917; AD 2002-21-11] adopts a new airworthiness directive (AD) that applies to certain EXTRA Flugzeugbau GmbH (EXTRA) Model EA-300S airplanes. The total cost of each airplane’s compliance is approximately $1,440. This EXTRA AD requires operators of all affected airplanes to inspect the upper longeron at the horizontal stabilizer attachment for cracks using a fluorescent dye check penetrant method, repair any cracks found, and modify the horizontal stabilizer. This AD also requires a limit on operation to the Normal category until accomplishment of the initial inspection and modification on airplanes with less than 200 hours time-in-service (TIS). This AD becomes effective on December 17, 2002.

Beech Bonanza

This amendment revises Airworthiness Directive (AD) 94-20-04, which currently requires ruddervator inspections, modifications, and operating limitations on certain Raytheon Aircraft Company (Raytheon) Beech Models 35, 35R, A35, B35, C35, D35, E35, F35, G35, H35, J35, K35, M35, N35, P35, S35, V35, V35A, and V35B airplanes. This Beech AD is the result of information received from the field on the ability to accomplish and understand the existing AD. This AD will condense and clarify information presented in AD 94-20-04 and will remove Beech Models 35, 35R, A35, and B35 airplanes from the applicability of AD 94-20-04. The total cost of compliance for each aircraft is approximately $2,400. The AD becomes effective on December 10, 2002.
