Manufacturers who think they can talk customers into
accepting a new airplane with a used engine are invited to have a look at this
advisory circular. And maybe let us know who these customers are. There's this
bridge...
The FAA has finalized an AD for Moravan (Zlin) models Z-143L
and Z-242L calling for modifications to the engine secondary vent. The crankcase
vent can freeze up in cold weather causing all the oil to be pumped overboard.
The AD becomes effective December 13 but with temperatures the way they are in
parts of the country, why wait?
