The FAA has established a large TFR around President Bush's ranch for the Thanksgiving holiday. The TFR expands the existing P-49 prohibited area from a 10-nm radius to a radius of 30 nautical miles from the surface up to 18,000 feet. For flight between 10 and 30 nm of the Prez's ranch, the NOTAM requires that pilots must be on an active VFR or IFR flight plan with a discrete ATC-assigned transponder code, and communicating with ATC. The only flights permitted within this area are for the purposes of ingress and egress from area airports, so no transitional flights are permitted. This NOTAM is effective from 1 p.m. local on November 27 through 3 p.m. local on December 1. Happy Thanksgiving, Texas flyers!
