A new Airworthiness Directive for Cirrus SR20 and SR22 aircraft requires owners of certain aircraft to modify the parachute systems on their aircraft to make sure they’ll work in an emergency. The problem is with the igniter pin and cable assembly that fires the rocket to deploy the ‘chute.

Owners of Textron Lycoming engines with certain Crane/Lear Romec “AN” rotary fuel pumps must replace them with an improved version, which prevents leaks if the current NPRM for Lycomings goes through as written. The FAA is currently accepting comments received by Feb. 11, 2003.

Aerostars with Roto-Master and Rajay oil scavenge pumps must replace them with improved design Aerostar scavenge pumps. The Aerostar AD was issued after several failures in the existing pumps which could result in loss of engine oil.
