Hooters Air Bounces Back

December 29, 2002
By Russ Niles,
Newswriter

Looks like Hooters Air has found the support it needs. A few months after his bid for bankrupt Vanguard Airlines came undone, Hooters of America Inc. chairman Robert H. Brooks announced last week he's buying Pace Airlines, a charter outfit now owned by Piedmont Hawthorne Aviation. Pace, based in Winston-Salem, N.C., has 17 aircraft and 350 employees, mainly involved in corporate shuttles, sports-team transportation and other forms of charter. Brooks said he hopes to put together some golf packages for his home town of Myrtle Beach, S.C. Brooks said he learned from his failed bid to buy Vanguard that the charter business "is much better suited for extending the Hooters brand."
