A UH-60L Army helicopter crashed Monday evening while flying in Fort Hood Range in Texas, killing all four crew members on board. Fort Hood officials said emergency crews found the wreckage after an “extensive search” of the northeast portion of the range. The crew, assigned to 2nd Battalion, 291st Aviation Regiment, First Army Division West, was on a training flight when the Blackhawk helicopter crashed sometime after 5:49 p.m.

A team from the Army Combat Readiness Center at Fort Rucker in Alabama was in Fort Hood this week to investigate. Weather reports indicate skies were clear at the time of the crash. The last fatal crash for a Fort Hood Blackhawk was in November 2004, when seven on board the helicopter were killed. Investigators said the helicopter was flying in foggy weather when it struck the cables of a TV tower, according to a reportfrom the Killeen Daily Herald.
