HondaJet Deliveries Delayed Till Late 2012

The HondaJet‘s delivery date has already been bumped back at least once, and this week the company moved the date again, to late in 2012. Originally the company had hoped to start deliveries by the end of this year, then last year announced a delay until late 2011 due to slow deliveries from suppliers. On Monday, Honda spokesman Stephen Keeney again blamed supplier delays. He told The Associated Press “major components” were the holdup, but didn’t specify any further. The company has said it has about 100 orders for the $4 million jet. The first conforming prototype was expected to fly this summer, but now first flight is expected in November.

Honda Aircraft Co. is based in Greensboro, N.C. The company is building a 250,000-square-foot building at Piedmont Triad International Airport, which should be finished early next year. The company already has about 450 people working in its research and development center at the site.
