Honda Aircraft Company now is expanding its sales network to South America, the company announced this week at EAA AirVenture. Sales will begin in Brazil, and the jet will make its South American debut there next month at the Latin America Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition. “General aviation in Brazil has experienced impressive growth, and it is the second largest country for new business-jet sales,” said Honda Aircraft Company CEO Michimasa Fujino. “Expanding sales to this important market is part of our global sales plan and strategy for the HondaJet.” The company offered no other updates on certification or the timing for first deliveries, but spokesman Andrew Broom said more announcements will be coming soon.

The company is based in Greensboro, North Carolina. The twin-engine jet, which sells for $4.5 million, can seat up to six and is single-pilot certified. The design incorporates some unusual technology, including the over-the-wing engine mounts, and natural laminar flow aerodynamic design. Combined with a lightweight and strong composite fuselage, the company says, the innovations add up to “the world’s most advanced light jet.”
