New Aviation Event Gains Momentum

A new aviation event in the works for spring break aims to attract “the next generation of aviators,” and this week AOPA said it has signed on as a supporter. AOPA says it was “an early adopter” of ModAero’s strategy, which organizers say will include live music every day, indoor drone races, “good food, good people, good times and interesting speakers.” ModAero says the millennial demographic is “connected through technology; they are unconstrained by geography; they are highly mobile and social … They enjoy traditional aviation venues, but they want a fly-in to call their own. Modern. Cool. Theirs.” The event will be held near Houston, Texas, March 16 to 19.

The programming focus at ModAero will include aviation education, technology, careers and culture. Events will include an aviation career fair, an innovation showcase, scholarship awards, static aircraft displays, live outdoor entertainment, eclectic dining events and more. Venues will include a conference center for educational programs, 32 acres of outdoor festival space, a 30-acre campground with space for 500 tents, and parking for more than 1,500 cars and 500 aircraft at Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport (KCXO).
