Our weekly review of news revealed an announcement for the annual conference of the Air Care Alliance, the umbrella organization for all volunteer pilot groups; a newly approved ADS-B In/Out Universal Access Transceiver; the first rebates paid to flying clubs by Sportys; and word that AnywhereEducation has stepped up to help out subscribers of some Air Guide Publications-which has apparently gone out of business. FreeFlight Systems announced FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) and Approved Model List (AML) approval for the RANGR FDL-978-XVR ADS-B In/Out Universal Access Transceiver (UAT). Approved for installation in most general aviation aircraft, the RANGR FDL-978-XVR provides full ADS-B Out rule compliance using existing Mode A/C or Mode S transponders. The system also receives ADS-B In TIS-B traffic and FIS-B graphical weather and other data for display on Multi-Function Displays (MFDs. Sporty’s first flying club rebates have been paid to flying clubs who enrolled as part of Sporty’s Flying Club Rebate Program. Rebates for clubs enrolled in the program totaled over $1000.

The umbrella organization for all public benefit flying groups, the Air Care Alliance, will hold its annual public benefit flying conference in Philadelphia, Pa., on April 25 and 26, 2014. Each year the Air Care Alliance holds its AIR CARE national conference to bring together those most involved in public benefit flying. Attendees enjoy learning from, sharing knowledge with and building relationships among their peers from across the country. Finally, as Air Guide Publications Inc., the creator of paper Flight Guide publications, and seller of subscriptions for iEFB, Solo and eKneeBoard (Enhanced Airport Information), appears to be no longer operating as an ongoing business, AnywhereEducation announced it has stepped up to take care of all of the iEFB and Solo users.
