AVweb’s weekly review of what’s going on in aviation turned up news that Power Flow had broken its own record for sales of Tuned Exhaust Systems at AirVenture, Oxygen to Go, LLC and its founder Dr. Brent Blue were recognized by Delta Airlines for significant contributions to persons with disabilities, the NTSB has proposed changes to its investigative procedures, and Bell Helicopter is about to deliver its 200th Model 429. Power Flow reportedthat it set a new record in Tuned Exhaust System sales at AirVenture this year. Confirmed sales for the event in Oshkosh were at 26, which eclipses the record of 21 set five years ago. According to the company, the patented design of the company’s Tuned Exhaust System allows many GA engines to develop more of their rated horsepower. This in turn leads to greater engine efficiency, a cooler-running engine and significantly enhanced aircraft performance. Oxygen To Go, LLC, was recognized by Delta Air Lines and its Advisory Board on Disability for “significant contributions, providing an environment where people with and without disabilities can learn to provide accessible service to all passengers.” Medical Director Dr. Brent Blue and Director of Operations David Hughes accepted the award at the annual meeting of the board in Detroit on Aug. 8, 2014, from Delta Air Lines Disability Program Manager David Martin. “We are very proud to provide oxygen services to Delta passengers making airline travel accessible to oxygen-requiring passengers,” said Dr. Blue. “Oxygen patients should not be restricted in their activities due to their oxygen requirements and facilitating their freedom of movement is exciting for us.”

The National Transportation Safety Board announced that it has issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking public comment regarding proposed changes to rules governing investigation procedures. In the NPRM, the NTSB proposes organizing its investigation procedures into mode-specific subparts to make the rules easier to access and consult. The NTSB also proposes to update some terms and procedures, including using the term “event” to describe transportation mishaps in regulatory text that applies to all transportation modes. In addition, the NTSB proposes changes to its procedures for allowing party participants to share information for the purposes of making timely safety improvements. Finally, Bell Helicopter will soon deliver its 200th Bell 429 to Miramar Empreendimentos Imobiliarios, a high-rise residential construction and real estate company serving the coastal area of Sao Paulo, Brazil, for more than 30 years. The aircraft will be used for corporate transportation and charter around Miramar’s projects and key areas in Santos, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The aircraft will officially be handed over to the customer in a special delivery ceremony at the end of the month. “We really needed a twin-engine helicopter that was fully equipped for IFR Flights,” said Armenio Mendes, president of Miramar Empreendimentos Imobiliaros.
