Sentient Grows Again

On the heels of its takeover of TAG Aviation’s U.S. aircraft management business, Sentient Jet Holdings LLC has acquired Van Nuys-based The Air Group for an undisclosed amount. Sentient says the acquisition makes it the “leading manager of aircraft in the country.” The purchase bookends Sentient’s burgeoning operation with new facilities at Teterboro and Van Nuys Airports. The Air Group recently completed a new facility at all-important TEB and is building a new base at Van Nuys that is expected to be finished this spring. “This acquisition further strengthens our aircraft management experience and provides us with one of the largest and highest-quality fleets for charter customers,” said Sentient CEO Steven Hankin. The Air Group has been in business for 27 years and the current management and staff will be retained, Hankin said. He said the Air Group has a loyal client base because of its excellent service and is a good fit for Sentient. The Air Group President Jon Winthrop agreed. “[Sentient] has a broad range of capabilities and expertise in private aviation and its culture, focused on service and safety, aligns with the foundation we have built at The Air Group over the past 27 years,” Winthrop said. “Being a part of Sentient will increase the value we bring to our long-standing aircraft owners and the charter clients we serve.”
