Our weekly foray into SocialFlight.com revealed that aviation activities are emerging from the winter doldrums with a combination of airshows, type club events and fly-in gatherings. The Take to the Skies Air Fest will take place on Eaker Field, Durant, Okla., on Saturday March 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Organizers promise an exciting airshow and family fun festival honoring our military and celebrating the Choctaw Code Talkers. Warbird rides and Choctaw cultural activities will be featured. The annual open house at Falcon Field, Mesa, Ariz., will be held on Saturday, March 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It will include static displays, warbird fly-bys and airplane and helicopter rides, plus there is a Commemorative Air Force museum on the field.

On Saturday the 29th, the American Yankee Association will hold a fly-in for owners as well as anyone interested in Grumman general aviation airplanes at Roosevelt Memorial Airport, Warm Springs, Ga., from noon to 4:30 p.m. Finally, the Naval Air Station in Kingsville, Texas, will be hosting the Wings Over South Texas Air Show on Saturday and Sunday, March 29 and 30 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. Performers include the Blue Angels, back on tour. Thank you to SocialFlight for keeping track of what's going on in aviation.
