The Weekender: From Aire Faire To Display

0

AVweb’s weekly look at the aviation activities on SocialFlight uncovered everything from an Aire Faire at Bonne Terre through a Horse Bend Festival, a Display Day and a Wings N’ Wheels celebration. The Bonne Terre Aire Festival is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 6 and 7, at the Bonne Terre, Missouri Airport. From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day there will be helicopter rides, arts, crafts, food vendors, model airplane shows, a bouncy house, live music and a balloon glow. On Saturday the 6th, the Horse Bend Festival Fly In is happening at Hassell Field, Clifton, Tennessee. Organizers promise food, fun, live music and a car and tractor show.

The first Saturday of the month means it’s Tailspin Tommy’s Display Day at Chandler Executive Airport, Fresno, California, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It’s a day by pilots for pilots with airplane displays, food and camaraderie as well as a guest speaker at 9:00 a.m. at the Central Valley Aviation Authority. Tailspin Tommy’s Aerodrome Eatery is in the original 1929 airline terminal building where the proprietors say that you’ll arrive as a pilot, leave as a friend. The Wings N’ Wheels, a community airport event for the whole family, is coming up on Saturday, Sept. 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at historic Wings Field in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania. It will feature cars, planes (old, new and warbirds), airplane rides, live steam engine rides, trucks, food, activities for kids, live music and more. Proceeds benefit Angel Flight East, a non-profit public benefit flying organization that provides free air transportation for people requiring medical treatment far from home. Our thanks to SocialFlight for keeping aviators abreast of aviation activities on an international scale.
