AVweb’s search of aviation news around the world found a fuel-price app for jet operators and flight departments, the annual big gathering of the Civil Air Patrol, Zenith Aircraft’s upcoming Open Hangar Day, and a final call for nominees for public benefit flying awards. JetFuelX, led by tech innovator and pilot Jason Talley, has announced the launch of a new jet fuel price management tool for aircraft owners and corporate flight departments. Developed by pilots for operators, the program is free, fast, and can be used on any mobile device. More than 800 Civil Air Patrol members are meeting this week in Orlando, Florida, for the organization’s 2015 National Conference, devoting several days to training, networking and focusing on the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary’s path for the future. The conference at Walt Disney World’s Swan and Dolphin Resort will culminate with a banquet at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29.

What started as an informal gathering of like minds has turned into one of the largest marque fly-ins, offering formal training and seminars, contests, and fun flying for owners and builders of Zenith aircraft. The event kicks off Friday, Sept. 18, when those who fly to KMYJ or drive in to the Zenith factory will be welcomed to engine and avionics workshops and seminars and the ever-popular STOL competition sponsored by Kitplanes. The deadline is approaching for recognizing an individual or organization deserving of special recognition for their volunteering beyond normal expectations or for significant achievements benefiting the world of public benefit flying and all those who fly to help others!Awards are presented by the National Aeronautic Association in association with the Air Care Alliance. Nominations are accepted through Aug. 31. These awards are presented at the prestigious Fall Awards Program of the National Aeronautic Association, held each year in Washington, D.C.
