Each week, we go through dozens (and sometimes hundreds) of reader-submitted photos and pick the very best to share with you on Thursday mornings and one photo that stands above the others is awarded an AVweb baseball cap as our "Picture of the Week." Allen Macbean of Orem, UT
Shot in Utah a few days before both Lancairs broke the cross-country speed record.
Burnet County, Texas. Saturday morning, 4/9/2011, was a beautiful sunrise over Deer Pasture Air Field here in Central Texas. I just had to get this shot. No digital changes. Shot with a Fuji 3.8 MPx "FinePix" model 1200.
Picture is Gary Ward flying at Boshears Memorial Fly-In 2010 in Augusta, Georgia. Gary is a friend of mine who is a real showman in the air! Gary's favorite line is, "It's tough being geen, but sometimes it's kinda nice." Photo credit: Dean Wingard, Nikon D90, AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II lens; Photoshop to size. I'm an amateur photographer who likes to fly and take photos of cool planes.
I saw the jet approaching and maneuvered my model "Bloody Mary" to try framing all three. Image is cropped for zoom effect. Photo taken with a Panasonic FZ18 Lumix on April 11, 2011 at the model airplane field near Clovis, New Mexico.
