Once in a Blue Moon
Brad Bellamy of Austin, TX
The Blue Moon was August 30, 2012. I took this picture of a flight departing DFW on September 1 from the 9400 block of Wood Duck Drive in Fort Worth at 8:47pm.
I took the photo in RAW format. The only processing was cropping in Photoshop Lightroom and saving as a .jpg with "standard sharpening for screen" selected.
Metadata: 1/60 sec at f6.3, 300mm, ISO 100, no flash, Sony SLT-A57 16M pixel RAW, Tamron 70-300mm F4-5.6.

T-Bone Twins
Christopher White of Granville, OH
Two Beechcraft Model 50 Twin Bonanzas grace the ramp of Knox County Airport in Ohio. Pretty rare to see two of these classics together nowadays! On the left is a 1957 D50; on the right is a 1960 D50C.
Shot with a Sony A65.

MC-130J on short final at Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico in August 2012. The sun was just right so I could see the pilot and co-pilot.
Taken from Highway 60/84 north of the base with a Panasonic FZ18 Lumix and cropped for effect.

Bug Shadow?
Jim Payne of Flushing, MI
Cell phone photo from my friend Jeff's Bell 47. We were about 20 feet off the ground, but the late evening shadow makes the skids look like the long legs of a bug.
No manipulations other than sizing for submission.
