We received over 700 responses to our question last week on yoke versus stick controls. Thirty-four percent prefer flying with a stick-equipped airplane, saying it gives them a better "feel" for the airplane. Only 13 percent fly with yokes exclusively, while 42 percent fly with and enjoy both types of controls. One reader offered some advice on choosing the best type of control. "Control choice depends on the aircraft. Side sticks virtually demand fly-by-wire or at least low control forces. Center sticks work well for light aircraft or small cockpits. Heavy aircraft or control forces need a yoke. Match the control to the application and don't worry about what looks cool." Cool? Us?
