0

A scroll through The Weekender’s SocialFlight calendar has turned up big airshows in the heartland to GA-friendly fly-ins back East that offer a bit of everything. The skies above Olympia, Washington, will come alive this weekend when the Olympic Air Show flies into town. The show is hosted by the Olympic Flight Museum and takes place at the Olympia Regional Airport. The show will include aerobatic performers and military aircraft from the museum’s collection, food and merchandise vendors, and a variety of youth activities. Mankato, Minnesota, will host the Air Force Thunderbirds’ only appearance in the state this year during the Minnesota Air Spectacular Saturday and Sunday. Other performers appearing are the U.S. Army Golden Knights Parachute Team, NAVYTACDEMO (F-18 Super Hornet), Team Oracle, Dave Dacy/Tony Kazian Wingwalking, John Klatt-Jack Links Screamin’ Sasquatch Jet Waco, and Kent Pietsch/Jelly Belly Airshow. A variety of aircraft will be on static display including the B25 Miss Mitchell, a C-130 Hercules and P-40E Warhawk.

The Southeast Aviation Expo in Greenwood, South Carolina, will provide pilots in South Carolina and neighboring states a full weekend of education and a showcase of new products and services. The association, partnering with the Greenwood County Airport, will include a car show, airshow and RC plane demonstrations. The Expo will take place during Greenwood’s Festival of Flowers, and the South Carolina Breakfast Club will hold its breakfast meeting on Sunday. And in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, the Auburn Auto & Aviation Show For MS will take place Saturday. The show will feature helicopters, vintage and late-model vehicles, as well as prizes, giveaways and raffles. All proceeds from the day will benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. There’s a private helipad on site if you want to fly in to show off your helicopter at Fuller Airport, OA21. For more on upcoming events this week, visit SocialFlight.
