With holidays and winter looming, activities in the northern half of the country are more scarce than usual this week, but SocialFlight still can help adventure-seeking pilots find plenty of places to go. In Niagara Falls, New York, the Niagara Aerospace Museum invites visitors to enjoy vintage Curtiss airplanes, Bell helicopters, and vintage artifacts from 100 years of local aviation history. The museum can be found at Niagara Falls International Airport. In Gladewater, Texas, resident pilots at Gladewater Municipal Airport invite visitors to join the season’s last gumbo gathering. “Come on over and enjoy the food and fun,” says their SocialFlight post. “Last gumbo of 2014, but it will be the best.”

At Warner Springs Gliderport, a private airfield in Warner Springs, California, pilots are welcome to fly in and learn to soar. “Thermal season is coming to a close, but wave season begins,” says the field’s SocialFlight post. “Make this winter’s ride a bit better when you learn all about waves and rotors.” SocialFlight has listed plenty more activities at air fields around the world that are easy to find using their free website and app. Fly in and find places nearby to stay, eat, and explore, or search for aviation activities anywhere you choose to fly.
