The Weekender: One Last Fall Barbecue

SocialFlight’s calendar shows some last chances to for fall fly-ins, but The Weekender is also gearing up for the many informative seminars that will take place in the coming months. Stag Air Park in North Carolina has rescheduled its fall fly-in for Saturday due to runway conditions. Weather permitting, all are invited to land on Stag’s private turf strip and join the group for refreshments plus a pork and chicken barbecue. Learn to fly to Mexico during an FAA Safety Team presentation Saturday at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Arizona. Two FAASTeam representatives will review the knowledge and skills requiredfor pilots flying internationally. Emphasis will be on regulatory procedures and safety issues, along with a discussion on Pilot Deviation Awareness.

Also Saturday, Flights For Life Inc. of Arizona will host an informational session in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Flights For Life, which transports blood for United Blood Service, will provide pilots with the criteria to establish a New Mexico chapter. Topics will include flight safety procedures and using tablet apps such as ForeFlight and WingX Pro. For those working on an instrument rating or moving into glass cockpits, head to Premier Jet Center in Carlsbad, California, on Saturday for a seminar on instrument scan techniques from Bob Crystal, 2007 CFI of the Year.
