An air traffic controller vectoring you around weather -- at your request -- doesn't always know the level of the rain's intensity. According to the ATC manual, when the precipitation intensity information is not available ATC should describe it to you as:


A weather echo


A thunderstorm of unknown intensity


A rain shower of unknown intensity


An area of precipitation
