More capable machines don't matter if you don't know how to use the things — and I don't.
The disparity of systems management between plumbed versus wired systems creates a problem for pilots. It is no longer good enough to be a proficient pilot. One must now be a proficient systems manager. Understanding each system — not only plumbing versus wiring, but wired system versus wired system ... . Well, there's a whole lot to know and if you don't know it well, you shouldn't be flying it. Looks like (for now) that's going to leave me out of a lot of new airplanes.
What I need to know, I'll learn — but I do miss the days of feeling like I could just jump into any plane and go (checkout not withstanding).
Heck, if all else fails, pull the ballistic chute.
