Question of the Week

According the NTSB, last week's Cessna 172S incident in St. Augustine included crankshaft failure — and the engine was a Lycoming.

How are you reacting to the news of a crankshaft failure in a Lycoming engine?

This doesn't necessarily have anything to do with Lycoming parts or its manufacturing process. The aircraft could have suffered an unreported prop strike or hangar rash.
This failure happened at a different place on the crankshaft. That to me suggests a different problem than what has previously been addressed. I'm not particularly concerned.
At a different location? That makes me *more* concerned, not less concerned.
Thank goodness my airplane is old. These issues really do not relate to me.
I'm very concerned about Lycoming.
I'm *extremely* concerned about Lycoming's ability to produce a reliable engine.
