This week, AVweb wants to know if LSA has really been a boost for pilot recruitment -- or if we're just looking at things through the wrong lens. Share your opinion.

Has LSA removed the barriers keeping prospective pilots from aviation?

YES, it's removed the barriers. Expect a steady and growing flow of sport pilots as the years go by.
NO. The barrier isn't training, nor is it medical considerations. The barrier is money. Flying is too expensive to be mainstream. That problem's not yet cured.
ODD. That's not what Sport Pilot is about. It's about legalizing fat ultralights, and it's done that.
Expect old pilots to retire to Sport Pilot status. Don't expect a big influx of new pilot starts due to Sport Pilot rules.
