Question of the Week

Now that Michael Chertoff has laid out the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's plans to fortify borders against private airplane traffic, we want to hear what AVweb readers think.

How much general aviation cross-border security do you think is reasonable?

Anyone who intends to fly a light aircraft across the border should be subject to background checks and be required to provide full information on the aircraft, cargo, and passengers.
GA groups are downplaying the threat from light aircraft. GA should be subject to the same standards as commercial airlines.
Light aircraft could pose a threat, so it's only reasonable that pilots should expect to be checked.
General aviation aircraft pose only a small terrorist threat and shouldn't get any more scrutiny than car and truck traffic.
