Question of the Week

This week, the FAA said it wants to create separate training regimens for tower and radar controllers, and the Air Force said its next batch of UAV pilots won't have actual flying experience. AVweb wonders if this kind of specialization is a good idea.

Should aviation training be job-specific?

ABSOLUTELY. It's the age of specialization, and as long as you know your own job inside and out, there's no reason to train beyond that.
YES, but there should be basic knowledge of jobs that are directly related to the successful accomplishment of yours.
NOT AS A MATTER OF COURSE. Specialization should occur only after the general knowledge is learned and demonstrated.
NO. There's too much cooperation and integration of duties to compartmentalize them. Everyone should be comfortable with every job involved in their mission.
OTHER (My opinion doesn't appear as a choice.)
