Question of the Week

The FAA is calling for comments on how to improve training for airline pilots. Since it's on everyone's mind, we'd like hear your opinion on what kind of training makes the best airline pilots.

What's the best way to train an airline pilot?

Military pilots should get first crack. The private sector cannot possibly match the training they receive.
Airline pilots should be groomed from their first lesson for Part 121 operations and graduate to a right-seat job.
Airline pilots should have a mix of varied experience, simulator time, and classroom training.
Working up through the ranks is ideal.
Babbitt is wrong. There should be a 1,000-hour minimum for both seats.
Nothing beats experience.
OTHER (My opinion doesn't appear as a choice.)
