Question of the Week

By now you've likely heard about John and Martha King being held at gunpoint by police in Santa Barbara last weekend. We've already heard from more than 100 readers about how they feel about the whole thing. Now, we want to know how you feel — not about what happened to the Kings, but where GA fits in the whole scheme of security and crime.

Why do incidents involving airplanes create so much drama?

They don't. We in aviation are just too sensitive and make too much of minor incidents like this. Most people haven't heard of this incident and won't.
Normally they don't, but the stature of the Kings raised its profile.
Most people don't understand aviation and are naturally more cautious with stuff they don't understand. That's what happened here.
Aviation is poorly understood and has a generally negative image for the general public. That needs to change.
We bring this all on ourselves because we flaunt the fact that we can do something most people can't. We need to grow up.
OTHER (My opinion doesn't appear as a choice — but maybe I'll send you an e-mail)
