Question of the Week

President Obama pretty much sealed the fate of bonus depreciation on GA aircraft in a press conference Wednesday.

Is the general aviation industry too dependent on tax breaks?

Yes. If any business depends on government for survival it's in trouble.
All business should be prepared to take advantage of favorable tax circumstances but shouldn't count on them.
Aviation is a higher-risk enterprise with potentially greater rewards for society in general. Government help is appropriate.
Since the U.S. has sold out to globalization, aircraft are among the few things we build better than anyone else. We should protect that.
OTHER (My opinion doesn't appear as a choice — but maybe I'll send you an e-mail.)
