Question of the Week

The NTSB held hearings this week to take the temperature of the industry and the authorities on the safety of air shows. What do you think?

Should we do something about the safety of air shows?

Leave air shows alone. They're a lot safer than many things we do every day without thinking about them.
In general, air shows are as safe as they can be reasonably made, but every accident is an opportunity to learn what can go wrong.
As technology and pilots' application of that technology evolves, so does the threat to safety. Wouldn't hurt to have a good look at what goes on from a safety point of view.
Air shows are an anachronism and should be curtailed in their present form. They are demonstrably dangerous.
