Given the escalating costs of the F-35 program, the ongoing problems with the F-22, and the increasing capabilities of drones, is it time to rethink the strategy on military jets?

Is the U.S. overspending on fighter programs?

Manned fighters will always be the first line of defense, and having the best means paying for it. The U.S. should stop complaining about the cost, fix the issues, and get on with maintaining air superiority.
Being the best is costly, but there are limits — and both these programs need some tough love.
Fighters are sexy, but they're becoming less important in overall strategy. Let's keep a lid on the costs.
Fighters are redundant and should be phased out.
