Is the trend toward airline consolidation a good thing?

Financial stability is essential to any business, and the mergers are achieving that. The benefits to passengers will follow.
There seem to be better reliability and fewer problems.
It's no better, but it's no worse, either.
The bigger they are, the harder they fall.
