Brainteasers Interactive Quiz #57:
Flight Instructor Practical Test

The FAA has just published a new Practical Test Standard (PTS) for the Flight Instructor Airplane certificate. The CFI-A checkride has a justly deserved reputation as one of the toughest in aviation. Whether you're already a CFI, a pilot who aspires to become a CFI, or just curious about what a flight instructor practical test is all about, Irv Siegel's latest interactive quiz will give you a preview.

by Irv Siegel

The information for this quiz comes from FAA-S-8081-6B - FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, Practical Test Standards for AIRPLANE. This publication contains the information regarding the requirements for a person who is taking (or administering) the practical test for a flight instructor certificate for airplanes. As with all practical test standards, applicants should become thoroughly familiar with its contents prior to taking the practical test. The purpose of this quiz is to help prepare you for the flight instructor (airplane) practical test, or, even if that test is not in your future, to help you understand what a flight instructor practical test is like.

INSTRUCTIONS: Answer the questions as best you can, then click on the "Score my quiz answers" button to see your score and read the explanations. If you don't like your score the first time around, you can change some of your answers and resubmit. To get the most out of this quiz, we suggest you keep trying until you get a perfect score.

NOTE: When more than one answer is true, only the most complete correct answer will be scored as correct. Also, assume that the test is being taken in an Airplane Single Engine Land aircraft.
