Changes are relative to last week's prices. /TEXT_ONLY--> AVweb's "FBO of the Week" ribbon goes to St. Clair County Airport (KPLR) in Pell City, Alabama. AVweb reader Mike Grossberg got the royal treatment there recently: The service is "over the top" at this beautiful country airport. The airport manager, Larry, answered my airport advisory request and offered to meet me on the ramp with the rental car as I taxied in from landing. Larry escorted us to the transient hangar, helped push the plane in, and gave us directions. This lovely airport even has a shady gazebo for watching the airplanes come and go. Real Southern hospitality at its best. Keep those nominations coming. For complete contest rules, click here. AVweb is actively seeking out the best FBOs in the country and another one, submitted by you, will be spotlighted here next Monday!

Changes are relative to last week's prices. /TEXT_ONLY--> AVweb's "FBO of the Week" ribbon goes to Sonoma Jet Center at Charles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport (KSTS) in Santa Rosa, California. AVweb reader Austin Kalb told us about the FBO: Wow. Either I'm really a VIP, or the people at the Sonoma Jet Center in Santa Rosa, California just made me feel that way. When I arrived in my Mooney, I was immediately swarmed by staff unpacking my luggage, loading the rental car (that was brought to the airplane), hooking up a tow, [and] handing us some cold waters. Then Josh said hello. He owns the place — and when I found out he was a Mooney driver, I stepped out of the airplane to chat. A couple of minutes later, I was offered hangar space with the big guys. Nice! That night, my rental car experienced a flat tire. [The rental company] was less than helpful — they left me pretty much on my own. I called the FBO. They simply took care of the issue. I left my car at the B&B in the morning, and when I returned later that day, a new rental was sitting where the old one was. When we left Santa Rosa, Josh showed up again to see us off. Last time I visited Santa Rosa, Joyce at the front desk was exceptional. Now I get why — it starts at the top. Great job, guys! Keep those nominations coming. For complete contest rules, click here. AVweb is actively seeking out the best FBOs in the country and another one, submitted by you, will be spotlighted here next Monday!

Changes are relative to last week's prices. /TEXT_ONLY--> AVweb's "FBO of the Week" ribbon goes to Honaker Aviation at Clark Regional Airport (KJVY) in Sellersburg, Indiana. AVweb reader Charles Black recommended the FBO: Kevin Happel and crew proactively removed a bird nest from the engine compartment. It could have led to an in-flight engine fire. I never suspected it was there. Profuse thanks for noticing the bird activity. Keep those nominations coming. For complete contest rules, click here. Changes are relative to last week's prices. /TEXT_ONLY--> AVweb's latest "FBO of the Week" ribbon goes to Harrison Aviation at Arlington Municipal Airport (KGKY) in Arlington, Texas. AVweb reader Carol Goldberg found warm Texan hospitality awaiting her here on a recent diversion: Due to weather, we diverted to Arlington, Texas on our way home from Las Vegas to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The entire staff went out of their way to assist us in obtaining hotel reservations, driving us to the hotel, recommending a dinner place, assuring us the jetprop would be hangared if the winds increased, and having snacks and hot drinks. Keep those nominations coming. For complete contest rules, click here. AVweb is actively seeking out the best FBOs in the country and another one, submitted by you, will be spotlighted here next Monday!

5) FBO of the Week: Kimble County Airport (KJCT, Junction, TX) - (Apr 15 2013)

>>> AVWEB FUEL FINDER CURRENT PRICE FOR 100LL: $6.03 (down 2¢ from last week) CURRENT PRICE FOR JET A: $5.55 (down 4¢ from last week) Fuel prices provided weekly by AirNav, based on prices from the past 2 weeks. Changes are relative to last week's prices. /TEXT_ONLY--> AVweb's "FBO of the Week" ribbon goes to Kimble County Airport (KJCT) in Junction, Texas. AVweb reader Sid Tolchin learned the value of a friendly face on his recent stopover at JCT: During a long flight in a small experimental plane from San Diego to New Orleans, almost any out-of-the-ordinary stop is a pleasure. This one was different. Billy Davis lives on the airport and was outside in gusting winds to help me tie down. He suggested I stay because of the weather and the lateness of the day before proceeding to New Orleans. After being certain that the aircraft was safely parked, he called the motel, recommended a good place to eat, and drove me to the Best Western, where they honored his recommendation with a discount. The short trip was filled with his stories. Keep those nominations coming. For complete contest rules, click here. AVweb is actively seeking out the best FBOs in the country and another one, submitted by you, will be spotlighted here next Monday!

6) FBO of the Week: Leading Edge Aviation (KU42, West Jordan, UT) - (Apr 8 2013)

Changes are relative to last week's prices. /TEXT_ONLY--> AVweb's "FBO of the Week" ribbon goes to Leading Edge Aviation at South Valley Regional Airport (KU42) in West Jordan, Utah (outside Salt Lake City). AVweb reader Mike Coster recommended the FBO: Capable and efficient staff. In the course of several visits in the past weeks, I've been impressed with the vey quick service — from marshaling to greeting [me] with carpet (!) and iced water and drinks planeside, from immediate delivery of a low-cost rental car (left running for warmth) to a greeting from a flight instructor offering a two-minute air space briefing. Facility is spotless and complete (right down to a good pilot shop), but not so extravagant as to make an RV pilot feel like he's paying for a corporate headquarters. On my most recent visit, they kept the doors open after hours to faciliate my return of the rental car. It was just the right balance of courtesy, speed, and good pricing. I highly recommend Leading Edge Aviation at South Valley Regional Airport. Keep those nominations coming. For complete contest rules, click here. AVweb is actively seeking out the best FBOs in the country and another one, submitted by you, will be spotlighted here next Monday!

7) FBO of the Week: Air Care Aviation (W03, Wilson, NC) - (Apr 1 2013)

>>> AVWEB FUEL FINDER CURRENT PRICE FOR 100LL: $6.06 (no change from last week) CURRENT PRICE FOR JET A: $5.58 (down 1¢ from last week) Fuel prices provided weekly by AirNav, based on prices from the past 2 weeks. Changes are relative to last week's prices. /TEXT_ONLY--> AVweb's "FBO of the Week" ribbon goes to Air Care Aviation at Wilson Industrial Air Center (W03) in Wilson, North Carolina. AVweb reader Ron Horton had a great experience there, as did several attending a recent event: Flew into W03 (Wilson, NC) along with two other planes to give rides to a local church through the NC Baptist Men's Aviation wing. Gave rides to 90 passengers on a beautiful Saturday. Guilford Mooring was running things at the FBO and was most gracious to accomodate our three airplanes and a host of first-time fliers ranging in age from 2 to 82. He kept everyone fueled, shared the facilities, and welcomed the kids playing on the grass between the FBO and the fence next to the ramp. His hospitality left a very favorable impression on lots of locals who had never been to an airport before. Based on conversations, there might be a few new pilots from that group to add to the GA roster someday! Keep those nominations coming. For complete contest rules, click here. AVweb is actively seeking out the best FBOs in the country and another one, submitted by you, will be spotlighted here next Monday!

8) FBO of the Week: Baxley Municipal Airport (KBHC, Baxley, Georgia) - (Mar 25 2013)

Changes are relative to last week's prices. /TEXT_ONLY--> AVweb's latest "FBO of the Week" ribbon goes to Baxley Municipal Airport (KBHC) in Baxley, Georgia. AVweb reader Robert Inman recommends adding it to your Sun 'n Fun flight plan: This facility has been completely remodeled with an emphasis on pilot efficiency and comfort. The young manager, Tyler Beach, is as pround as can be as he gives you a tour, including two bedrooms for those who might get stranded there by weather — all at no charge. There are a brand-new ramp, self-service pumps (although Tyler helped pump the fuel, and the cheapest fuel in Georgia. This is a great place to stop on your visit to Sun 'n Fun! Changes are relative to last week's prices. /TEXT_ONLY--> AVweb's "FBO of the Week" ribbon goes to HOVA Flight Services at Gilbert Airport (KGIF) in Winter Haven, Florida. AVweb reader Christopher Leonard told us how impressed he was with the facilities at staff at HOVA: This is the best FBO I have been to in a long time. The staff is genuinely friendly, and there is a true GA focus here. The restaurant inside the FBO building is excellent and creates a sense of community. The airport is active in flight training and promoting GA. The facilities are beautiful, and fuel prices for such an outstanding new facility are very reasonable. Getting in and out of the airport is a breeze. I would highly recommend this FBO and airport to anyone! Keep those nominations coming. For complete contest rules, click here. Changes are relative to last week's prices. /TEXT_ONLY--> AVweb's latest "FBO of the Week" ribbon goes to the FBO at Orangeburg Municipal Airport (KOGB) in Orangeburg, South Carolina. AVweb reader Jeff Grigg described his recent visit to the airport: We had an appointment with an examiner at this airport. While there, we were offered a nice Ford to go get some lunch. When our appointment was over, the weather had turned real sloppy, and the ceiling at our home airport was only 600 feet. The folks at the Orangeburg Airport offered the use of a hangar for a few days until we could return and pick up our plane. When we returned, she was nice and dry in the hangar. The manager filled the plane and even gave me a little discount on fuel and did not charge me any rental for the hangar due to the weather. With service like this, you bet I'll recommend this airport and the management to anyone flying through! Everyone was very friendly, the facilities were everything I could want in a small town, and these were just plain good folks. Keep those nominations coming. For complete contest rules, click here. 11) FBO of the Week: West Houston Airport (KIWS) - (Mar 4 2013)

>>> AVWEB FUEL FINDER CURRENT PRICE FOR 100LL: $6.06 (up 2¢ from last week) CURRENT PRICE FOR JET A: $5.66 (down 1¢ from last week) Fuel prices provided weekly by AirNav, based on prices from the past 2 weeks. Changes are relative to last week's prices. /TEXT_ONLY--> AVweb's "FBO of the Week" ribbon goes to West Houston Airport (KIWS) in Houston, Texas. AVweb reader Trevor Fenimore recommended the FBO: I spent three months working out of West Houston Airport doing Aerial Survey, and this FBO was the best I have used during my eight months on the road. They were always very professional and courteous. Breakfast is catered free for customers every morning. There are massage chairs with big-screen TVs, a 3-D cinema, and an excellent flight planning room with multiple computers. The line staff is very efficient and will have you back in the air in no time with a clean windshield and full tanks. Reduced fuel prices on the weekends. Truly a first-rate FBO! 12) FBO of the Week: Clarke County Airport (Quitman, MS) - (Feb 25 2013)

>>> AVWEB FUEL FINDER CURRENT PRICE FOR 100LL: $6.04 (up 3¢ from last week) CURRENT PRICE FOR JET A: $5.67 (no change from last week) Fuel prices provided weekly by AirNav, based on prices from the past 2 weeks. Changes are relative to last week's prices. /TEXT_ONLY--> AVweb's "FBO of the Week" ribbon goes to Clarke County Airport (23M) in Quitman, Mississippi. AVweb reader Dee Ann Ediger clued us in to the airport's excellent FBO: We were making our way westward toward questionable weather and keeping in contact with Flight Service while watching the visibility ahead and scouting out landing prospects. We had been landing at two-hour intervals to check weather from the ground, and Clarke County fit our time, course, runway length, and fuel availability, so we dropped in. The inside of the FBO was immaculate, and the freshly painted facilities were just about the cleanest I have ever seen at a small airport. The refrigerator was stocked with microwave sandwiches, drinks, and snacks with an honor pay system so we didn't have to dig into our crackers-and-cheese emergency rations. The excellent service and availability of mogas in addition to the very low priced avgas makes this a very likely stop for us on future trips. We even had our picture taken with our airplane to add to the wall of infamy "documenting those who stop in." Keep those nominations coming. For complete contest rules, click here. AVweb is actively seeking out the best FBOs in the country and another one, submitted by you, will be spotlighted here next Monday!

AVweb reader Russel Jennings had high praise for Monadnock: Courteous staff, excellent information, friendly environment, relaxing place with excellent catering. Employees will interact with you in conversation. If needed, the FBO's mechanic will come check out your aircraft if you are having issues. I can personally say I've been to FBOs where you walk in and it's all about them collecting money, very unfriendly — "get in and get out" kind of places. But Monadnock is friendly and takes its customers into consideration. Definitely recommend this FBO to anybody looking for an excellent place to fly into. Keep those nominations coming. A little paperwork for the car, and a crew car [arrived] for the pilot, complete with directions to hotel and dinner. [The] airplane went into their warm hangar in a short while. AVweb reader Harry Shannon recommended told us how the fuel prices caught his attention but the service brought him back to Walnut Ridge a second time: Moving a Caravan amphib from Florida to Washington state, good fuel prices prompted a stop at Walnut Ridge. The service was great, leading to a planned stop on the return trip to Florida. As often happens, our plans lag a bit, and we found ourselves heading for Walnut Ridge arriving near midnight. A call ahead had arranged for an open FBO. [We were] personally met by the airport manager, who also transported us to local lodging, picked us up the next morning, and gave us an extra discount on fuel because it was our second stop. Changes are relative to last week's prices. /TEXT_ONLY--> AVweb's latest "FBO of the Week" ribbon goes to Wright Brothers Aviation at Mitchell Municipal Airport (KMHE) in Mitchell, South Dakota. A few weeks back, AVweb reader Dr. Steve P. Schoettle knocked us out with his story of WBA's outstanding devotion to service: Service above and beyond the call of duty! On October 27, after a successful week of pheasant hunting in South Dakota, I prepared to depart back home to Arkansas in my Cherokee Six. To my dismay, N720JB would not crank! Quickly, the line personnel came to my assistance with battery boosts, etc. After no success, Roger the mechanic stepped in. Even on his weekend off, he spent the next six hours diagnosing my failed starter and trying to get it working. After exhausting all possibilities, and unable to find a new starter in the area on a Saturday, he contacted a local plane owner, who graciously "loaned" me the starter from his plane! Roger took that starter and placed it on my plane, even coming in early Sunday morning to finish up and get me in the air The starter has since been replaced and the "borrowed" one returned to the other plane. Terri and Todd have always run a wonderfully friendly and efficient FBO, but this was truly amazing service. My hat is off to the entire staff! Keep those nominations coming.
