WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT AT THE RHODE ISLAND NATIONAL GUARD AIR SHOW
The Wounded Warrior Project works to help injured veterans transition to civilian life, and recently they've partnered up with some aviators to help promote the effort at air shows around the country. At the Rhode Island National Guard Air Show in June, AVweb's Mary Grady caught up with the Vandy 1 team, which operates a shiny black aerobatic L-39 jet that carries the Wounded Warrior logo.

SWIFT FUEL UPDATE: MAKE THE STUFF FROM NATURAL GAS
Last April at Sun 'n Fun, Swift Enterprises offered some price estimates on its replacement avgas 100SF using primarily biomass sources. This week, the company's David Perme updates us with new numbers showing that Swift Fuel's acetone feedstock can be made either from biomass or from petroleum sources, most likely the natural gas components used for most acetone production. Price? He estimates it will be competitive with current avgas, between $5 and $6 a gallon.

GAMI'S G100UL: ALSO COMPETITIVE WITH AVGAS
General Aviation Modifications, Inc. in Ada, Oklahoma continues its testing and research on its high-octane avgas replacement, G100UL. In this podcast, GAMI's George Braly says the company is refining its formulations on the fuel and that preliminary contacts with refiners indicate that it can be made from components "found inside the fence of any refinery." Although neither Swift's nor GAMI's prices are set in stone, Braly believe G100UL can be made at a price within about 50¢ of current avgas prices, plus or minus.
