SWIFT
FUEL UPDATE: MAKE THE STUFF FROM NATURAL GAS Last April at
Sun 'n Fun, Swift Enterprises offered some price estimates on its
replacement avgas 100SF using primarily biomass sources. This week, the
company's David Perme updates us with new numbers showing that
Swift Fuel's acetone feedstock can be made either from biomass or from
petroleum sources, most likely the natural gas components used for most
acetone production. Price? He estimates it will be competitive with
current avgas, between $5 and $6 a gallon.

GAMI'S
G100UL: ALSO COMPETITIVE WITH AVGAS General Aviation
Modifications, Inc. in Ada, Oklahoma continues its testing and research
on its high-octane avgas replacement, G100UL. In this podcast, GAMI's
George Braly says the company is refining its formulations on the
fuel and that preliminary contacts with refiners indicate that it can be
made from components "found inside the fence of any refinery." Although
neither Swift's nor GAMI's prices are set in stone, Braly believe G100UL
can be made at a price within about 50¢ of current avgas prices,
plus or minus.
