  • Illuminated Layers

    Steven Malloch of Seattle, WA

I didn't edit the photo. I took it after a flight on August 25, 2013 in Everett, WA at Paine Field (KPAE). I am leasing the plane in the foreground, N78747, with my friend. In the background you can see the tails of multiple 787s "in storage" for Boeing on the closed runway.

I took the photo with my phone, an HTC One.

    Dan Sweigard of Euless, TX

Flight from Illinois to Texas with my dog Wilbur, a two-year-old yellow Lab (his second flight). 6,500 feet over northern Missouri in a Commander 112, he seems to be enjoying the view despite the noise. (He won't wear the ear muffs.)

  • 911 DC10 Air Tanker

    Greetings AVweb,

I snapped this photo of "911" while she and her air/support crews were temporarily staged at KCPR (NCIA) conducting aerial firefighting operations during the "Casper Mountain Sheep Herder Fire" of 2012. Without the efforts of this aircraft/crew's superior firefighting abilities, this particular fire would have been much more catastrophic. I understand she and crew are currently involved in ops at Rim Fire, Yosemite.

    Thank you, 911 and crew!
