GAP Engine Update

TCM's two-stroke turbo-Diesel engine being developed under NASA's General Aviation Propulsion (GAP) R&D program won't be ready for certification for several more years. It's a daring program whose success is by no means certain. But if the engine pans out the way TCM and NASA hope it will, the GAP engine could breathe new life into piston-powered general aviation. AVweb's Mike Busch offers an update on the compelling advantages of TCM's new piston technology, as well as the difficult problems yet to be solved.
