Whenever a whole plane parachute is activated, there's lots of news about it, and a gear-up landing is guaranteed to get news choppers in the air, but every day pilots get themselves out of tense situations using the skill and training they've accumulated. Well, nothing has improved the odds of a happy outcome than the cockpit technology now available to pilots of all types of aircraft.

AVweb's Russ Niles spoke with Chicago Mooney pilot Vince Scott how about how a little electronic wizardry was on his side when his engine ate an exhaust valve at 7,000 feet in IMC.
