The FAA reacted quickly to the August 8 midair collision between a Piper Lance and a tour helicopter over New York City's Hudson River, proposing a series of operational and ATC changes designed to facilitate separation of fixed-wing and rotorcraft traffic. But will the FAA's proposals help? In the inaugural episode of a new podcast series here on AVweb, Aviation Safety magazine's Editor-in-Chief Jeb Burnside discusses these and other questions with Newark, N.J. tower controller Eddie Kragh and with Jeff Smith, chairman of the Eastern Region Helicopter Council.

For more on the subject, be sure to check out the current issue of Aviation Safety magazine. (AVweb readers can get a special rate on their subscription here.)
