As LSAs make more inroads in new airplane sales, they're also coming up on the used market. The Rotax 912 and 914 have proven to be reliable, durable engines, but they have a couple of tender spots. For one, they don't like to be overheated and if run on fuel that's of too-low octane, they can detonate, leading to crankshaft issues.
