Airports close across the country too often — and for too many reasons to count, so when the specter of closure hangs over a specific airport, it's understandable if the pilots there feel helpless. But that's not what happened at Sky Manor Airport in New Jersey. What could have been the end for Sky Manor is now a fresh new beginning and possibly a template for other airports on the edge.

AVweb's Glenn Pew caught up with Sky Manor's Don Kugler who was once just another pilot and long-term airport tenant and is now a managing member of Sky Manor Airport Partners. The grass roots company made up of airport tenants has brought the airport back from the brink — and turned a profit doing it.
