The annual Crossfield educator award honors teachers who inspire kids to learn about aviation. Lt. Col. Herbert W. Powley was chosen for introducing more than 4,000 students to flying over 19 years, producing on average eight first solos and two new pilots every year. He talks with AVweb's Mary Grady about his project, how it got started, how he keeps it going, and what the Crossfield award meant to him.
