Every aspect of the A500 design is planned with performance, efficiency, comfort and safety as top priorities. From the tip of the spinner to the trailing edge of the tail, you'll find features that confirm A500 owners made the best choice in safety, exceptional value, and simple luxury.
The most important aspect of the A500 is the centerline-thrust design. This design is much safer than other conventional twins because it eliminates the asymmetrical thrust complications during engine out conditions. The centerline-thrust engine design of the A500 twin provides dependable performance over weather and high terrain.
In the cockpit, you will find several innovations that make flying the A500 easier and safer. At the center is two GARMIN GNS 530 multifunction displays, featuring a 5-inch color screen that makes pilot-critical information easy to read and interpret. For safety's sake, an emergency mode gives you the nine nearest airports, VORs, NDBs, intersections, or user waypoints at the touch of a button. The GNS 530 will expand as you do, with MFD capabilities to accommodate weather, traffic, and Wide Area Augmentation Service (WAAS) devices.
To further ease pilot workload we have installed S-TEC's flagship System Fifty Five X autopilot. This high performance autopilot features GPSS by S-TEC (GPS Roll Steering). GPSS integrates the autopilot with the GPS Navigator function for extremely accurate, hands-off GPS navigation.
FADEC (Full Digital Authority Engine Control) maximizes engine reliability, performance, and efficiency, which plays an important role by easing pilot workload and providing a smoother, quieter ride. The computerized single-lever engine control reduces fuel costs by 15 percent.
The VM 1000 Engine Management System combines ten engine gauges in one easy-to-read display. Simultaneous readings are continuously visible, eliminating the need to search the panel or twist dials to obtain critical engine information. The engine caution advisory system warns of abnormal conditions before they become critical.
Specifically designed for the A500 aircraft, the trailing link configuration makes landings softer while improving ground-handling qualities.
