What's New -- Products and Services
This month AVweb's survey of the latest products and services for pilots, mechanics and aircraft owners brings you prop locks, oxygen systems, tri-color flashlights and much more.
If you know of a new product or service other AVweb readers should hear about, please send us a note.
Electroair Mag Timing Housing
Electroair has developed a new Mag Timing Housing (MTH) for Continental O-200 engines. The new MTH will directly replace one of the magnetos when installing an Electroair Ignition System on an O-200. According to the manufacturer, the O-200 MTH reduces the installation time and greatly improves the ease of installation of an Electroair ignition system. Electroair reports that the cost of an O-200 ignition kit did not change with this improvement. For more information on the Electroair O-200 ignition kit, go to the Electroair Web site.
Sporty's Indestructible Prop Lock
A prop lock is a great way to deter thieves and project a secure airport image. Sporty's Indestructible Prop Lock is a hexagon-shaped, triple heat-treated chain that can withstand 11 tons of cutting force.
The Prop Lock fits securely around the propellers of single-engine aircraft as well as light twins and is easy to take on and off. A nylon cover over the chain protects the finish of the aircraft from inadvertent scratches.
With three personal keys, the Prop Lock measures five feet in length, but weighs just 12 pounds. The Indestructible Prop Lock is available for $60 and may be ordered at Sporty's Web site.
Mountain High Oxygen System
The small, lightweight MH-3, MH-4 Constant Flow and the MH EDS Pulse-Demand FADOC control unit connects via a soft tube to Mountain High's newly designed Four Place Regulator (FPR), which is attached to the top of the oxygen cylinder valve. The FPR provides up to four people with oxygen from a single tank. The FPR uses quick disconnect couplings to connect the tube from the control unit to the regulator on top of the oxygen tank. The couplings ensure easy, safe, and secure connection and disconnection. Shut off valves in both the coupling body and insert automatically seal air supply once the tube is disconnected. The thumb latch design on the coupling produces an audible "click" when a secure connection has been made.
MH EDS electronically-controlled FADOC [Full Authority Digital Oxygen Control ] oxygen systems enable pilots and passengers of general aviation airplanes to make the best use of available oxygen by adjusting automatically to their individual breathing rhythms, supplying exactly the amount of oxygen needed at altitude. Mountain High's Electronic Oxygen Delivery System (EDS) monitors changes in human breathing, delivering a pulse of oxygen when it is needed, at the instant each inhaling cycle is detected. It is connected to either a Mountain High Nasal Cannula or a Mountain High Oxygen Mask.
For more information visit the Mountain High Web site.
ASA Tri-Lite
The ASA Tri-Lite flashlight is equipped with red, green, and white LEDs, providing flexibility and everything the pilot needs to maintain night vision while also providing the true-color options necessary for accurate chart, fuel, and oil color interpretation. Hands-free operation is made possible by three Velcro-like mounting strips. The light can be snapped onto headsets, kneeboards or other flat surfaces, and can be quickly removed and re-attached. When attached to a headset, a focused beam of light is directed wherever the pilot looks.
Rugged LEDs rated for 50,000 hours of use mean a durable advantage over standard light bulbs. The light uses standard AAA batteries for easy replacement, and a utility clip allows the light to be secured on flight bags, belts, or keychains when not being used in flight. The Tri-Lite is available for $19.95.
For more information or to order, see the ASA Web site.
Sporty's Seat Cooler
Sporty's Seat Cooler can turn a hot seat into a comfortable ride. Operating on your airplane's 12-volt lighter socket, the Seat Cooler has an adjustable fan in the front flap that circulates air through hundreds of tiny vents in the microfiber and mesh materials.
The Seat Cooler attaches to the airplane seat with clip-type fasteners and is programmed with a 60-minute automatic shut-off and stand-by mode. A seven-foot cord connects the Seat Cooler with the plug so it can also be used in the back seat by a passenger.
The Seat Cooler is available for $69.95 and may be ordered at Sporty's
Web site.

ZD Publishing Garmin GNS 430W Manual
The Garmin GNS 430W Manual from ZD Publishing concentrates on a task-oriented format to cover all GPS operations for the WAAS-certified GPS receiver.
This unit is a significant upgrade to the popular GNS 430. The Table of Contents lists all operations. Find the operation that interests you, go to the appropriate page and view the step-by-step instructions from beginning to end. This manual is designed to be used in conjunction with the unit in the aircraft, a docking station from Lone Star Aviation, or Garmin's free downloadable trainer on your computer at home. This combination will safely lower your learning curve without the noise and distractions that accompany flying. It also is valuable as a takealong tool in the cockpit for a quick reference as needed. The Appendix's provide descriptions for all pages.

SkyOx Weather Vane Windsock
AirCraft Industries (a.k.a., SkyOx) has introduced a new Weather Vane Windsock Kit. This kit is a miniature version of the company's full-size windsock. The new product features a weather vane topped with free rotation windsock. This new product makes an ideal gift or to adorn a deck, patio, office, small storage buildings, barn or other outbuilding. The Weather Vane Windsock can be mounted using supporting rod or screwed or bolted to the building using the mounting brackets welded to the support shaft.
The weather vane is 22.5-inches tall and 12-inches wide. The windsock, measuring 4 inches in diameter and 14-inches long, is secured to a welded-steel frame with a pull-tie nylon cord. All metal parts including the vertical 3/8-inch vertical support tube and the weather direction symbols are powder coated to resist corrosion. The windsock itself is fabricated from long-life polyester fabric that is treated to resist the effects of wind and weathers. While the kit comes with a standard bright orange windsock, the firm offers an intense white windsock. Optional lettering or an existing logo design is offered as an option for an additional charge.
This $70 kit, or a replacement windsock for about $15, may be ordered from the SkyOx Web site.
