With almost 34,000 visitors from 60 countries, officials at Aero Friedrichshafen said attendance showed a “marked increase” over previous years. “International visitors in particular generated strong momentum for the aviation show,” according to the news release sent out on Monday. With almost 34,000 visitors from 60 countries, officials at Aero Friedrichshafen said attendance showed a "marked increase" over previous years. "International visitors in particular generated strong momentum for the aviation show," according to the news release sent out on Monday. The number of exhibitors, 645 from 38 countries, and the number of new products presented, also set records for the event. Business jets and electric technology were two of the main areas of interest for the show, said project leader Roland Bosch.
Tine Tomazic of Pipistrel said his company's two electric airplanes drew a lot of visitors to their exhibit. "So far, we have had the largest number of visitors ever," he said. "Not only have we had more visitors than ever before, but these have included a high share of customers and potential customers and fewer casual visitors. Those who have visited us have been seriously interested. So this has been the best Aero yet. We will definitely come back next year." Aero's scheduling this year, the week before Sun 'n Fun, created difficulties for many U.S. exhibitors in deploying their staff and resources, but on Saturday, the last day of the show, the halls were busy and the exhibits all appeared to be still fully staffed. The event's new Be a Pilot area, with a row of vendors offering flight training and aviation degrees, also attracted a steady stream of visitors all week long. Next year's show is set for April 20 to 23.
