In line with the focus on sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) at the 2019 NBAA convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) and General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) announced this week that a new summit on aviation sustainability will be held in Washington, D.C., next March. According to NBAA, the Business Aviation Global Sustainability Summit will focus on accelerating the use and availability of SAF. The organization cited previous industry initiatives promoting SAF as the foundation for the event.

“Business aviation has long made sustainability a priority, and we have made tangible progress,” said NBAA President Ed Bolen. “Over the past decade, we have redoubled our commitment to reducing the industry’s already-small carbon footprint, and key to that has been the development and use of sustainable fuels. This summit marks the next step in focusing on how to accelerate the fuels’ adoption and use.”

Along with the summit announcement, NBAA highlighted a new online SAF support pledge produced by the Business Aviation Coalition for Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Coalition members include the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA), International Business Aviation Council (IBAC), National Air Transportation Association (NATA) GAMA and NBAA.
