The Weekender: Local Flavor For Labor Day

FlightLevel of Cape May County Airport in New Jersey will hold its first fly-in, which includes AIRFEST at the Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum featuring WWII re-enactors and live music.

FlightLevel of Cape May County Airport in New Jersey will hold its first fly-in, which includes AIRFest at the Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum featuring WWII re-enactors and live music. Grab a free hot dog lunch and get discounts to area attractions. On Labor Day, the Clark Regional Airport in Indiana invites all to the first annual Community Appreciation Air Fair and Car Show. Ride in your choice of airplane, helicopter or tethered balloon and see aircraft flyovers, car and airplane displays, and later a balloon glow. Parking is $5 for cars, but airplanes can park for free on the south end of the field near Runway 36.
Three days of aerial festivities await at the Cleveland National Air Show. Featured performers include the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, Breitling Jet Team and the Shockwave Jet Truck, described as "the world's fastest triple engine jet truck." On the ground, visitors can keep busy with activities including interactive and aircraft displays, plus parachute packing lessons. In Steamboat Springs, Colorado, the Wild West Air Fest will run Saturday and Sunday along with shows and entertainment all over town. Watch the airshow and get a warbird or helicopter ride, and head to downtown Steamboat Springs for festivities including a Chili Challenge and Sunday evening Rocky Mountain Bull Bash with the Professional Bull Riders.
