The Weekender: Raffles, Prizes And A Town Hall Meeting

The Weekender will put money down for the chance at some freebies – a tandem skydive in Michigan and a flight lesson in Vermont, all while enjoying vintage aircraft and live music at several events found on SocialFlight. Gould Peterson Memorial Airport in Tarkio, Missouri, will host EAA Chapter 1405’s 12th annual WingNuts Flying Circus Air Show, featuring an aviation town hall meeting to discuss GA issues. Arrive Friday for an evening of food and entertainment, and spend Saturday from breakfast ’til night with grassroots enthusiasts and an airshow with unique aircraft. Be sure to check NOTAMs before flying in. Also Saturday, the Hastings Flying Association in Hastings, Michigan, invites all to its annual Dawn Patrol starting at 7 a.m. Enjoy a full breakfast including blueberry pancakes, see an antique car cruise-in, and take part in a raffle for a tandem jump from Skydive Hastings.

EAA Chapter 613’s Saturday fly-in will celebrate the grand opening of the new terminal at Franklin County’s airport in Highgate, Vermont. Events include a spot landing contest, Garmin avionics demos and discounted transponder checks while you wait, a Cessna 150 flight lesson raffle and door prizes (hint: something from Garmin). In Bethel, Pennsylvania, the Golden Age Air Museum will host a weekend-long event offering a swing-band dance Saturday night, dinners on Friday and Saturday, an aviation/automotive flea market, and people’s choice awards for best aircraft and vehicle.
